Great news for hopeful fans of Rockstar Games' “Red Dead Redemption” as the sequel is hinted for release sometime in the future.
Arguably one of the best titles the game company has released, it's but natural for fans to wait for a well-deserved sequel. However, Rockstar said in 2014 that it's in no hurry to produce sequels for their games.
"It's wonderful to see so much excitement and enthusiasm for the 'Red Dead' series, and nearly 5 years after 'Red Dead Redemption's' release,” Rockstar said in a Q&A. “As we've mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as 'Red Dead Redemption,' 'Bully,' and 'L.A. Noire,' we don't always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won't get to them eventually.”
Come 2015, a source for Cyberland revealed that the sequel is in the works. The source said that after “GTA V” Rockstar will focus on “Red Dead Redemption 2,” and should there be no roadblocks or difficulty in development, the game is expected to release October 2016.
“My source says that Rockstar is currently finalizing their plans for GTAV and they are going to focus on RDR2 now. Rockstar expects the game to be out by October next year as long as the devs doesn't hit any road blocks during development," the source said.
Recently, it has been reported that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will be developed by Take-Two Interactive. According to our sister site Latinos Post, Take-Two owns Rockstar Games.
Take-Two president Karl Slatoff hinted that they have “unannounced game projects,” and it is now believed that “RDR2” is one of those games he hinted at.
CrossMap reports that Take-Two CEO Straus Zelnich said that “Red Dead” is going to be a franchise for sure.
"I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent,” Zelnich said in a conference. “It's obvious that 'GTA' is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that 'Red Dead' is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others."
Although it may sound exciting, these are still hints and rumors, not official developer announcements regarding the game. Until then, fans are advised to wait for the game to be actually released.
If the rumor proves true, “Red Dead Redemption 2,” titled “Red Dead Redemption: Legends of The West” will release October 2016.
