'Super Smash Bros 4' Characters & DLC Update: Final Fantasy Character Cloud Strife With Amiibo figure To Debut in Nintendo Brawler By December? [Rumors]

A surprising way to end the year, Nintendo revealed that Cloud Strife is coming to "Super Smash Bros 4."

With earlier reports regarding the brawler game “Super Smash Bros 4” indicating that new characters and stages are coming soon, Nintendo's reveal came as a smashing surprise to many expectant gamers.

IGN reported that the surprise was delivered via Nintendo Direct. Through the video, Nintendo revealed that excited fans will soon see Cloud Strife storming into the brawl battle, for both the Wii U and 3DS platforms. This news is a big surprise because Cloud wasn't reported as one of the possible inclusions to the game once the DLC is released.

For those who don't know Cloud, he is famous for being the main protagonist of the beloved PlayStation 1 role-playing game “Final Fantasy VII” (which is getting a reboot for the PS4), as well as the animated movie “Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.” He also appeared in some other games such as “Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII;” “Dirge of Cerberus – Final Fantasy VII;” “Chocobo Racing;” “Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring;” as well as “Kingdom Hearts” and “Dissidia.”

The trailer video featured Cloud showing off some of his skills and moves, complete with limit breaks, an Odin summon, as well as an alternate costume that came from “Advent Children.” Coming alongside Cloud is the stage "Midgar," fresh off “FFVII.”

IGN reported that Cloud's inclusion came as a big surprise due to the fact that no “Final Fantasy” game has ever been ported to any Nintendo console. The only appearance the character made in any Nintendo system is in the music spinoff “Theatrhythm Final Fantasy” and its sequel “Curtain Call,” as well as “Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.”

Nintendo hasn't announced an official date for both Cloud and Midgar yet, as well as his own anticipated Amiibo figure. Although fans speculate a December release as per Christian Today, the date is still unspecified.

CT added that currently, no word regarding official characters has been given. Previously, it has been reported that Yacht Club's Shovel Knight is rumored to come in, although the game company is still firm in its stance the that famed character won't be included. Although a leak has been released by an avid fan, Yacht Club still denies it.

“Smash Bros” maker Nintendo itself hasn't released any official word to date. Because of this, fans are still hoping for the Knight's inclusion, as characters from other games and gaming platforms have been included already.
