'Sherlock' Season 4 Air Date, Premiere & Trailer: Who is the Mystery Bride in Victorian Special? Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman 'Determined' to Age With Series

After a long wait of two years, it's only a month away before we see Benedict Cumberbatch's famous version of Sherlock Holmes grace the screen for the "Sherlock" Victorian special titled "The Abominable Bride." As the Jan. 1, 2016 air date for the Christmas episode draws near, a slew of details have popped up on the internet. However, fans still have one particular question in mind -- who is the mystery bride?

Recently, "Sherlock" released some character posters for "Sherlock: The Abominable Bride," per Games Radar. The posters showed detective Holmes (Cumberbatch) in a suave suit with sleek hair and a pocket watch while his pal, Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman), is sporting a bushy mustache and a hat. However, the most intriguing poster is that of the bride, which showed her wearing a lace wedding dress while her face is mostly covered by her veil, except bloody lips. See the posters here, here and here.

CNET speculates that based Emilia Ricoletti (Natasha O'Keeffe) may be the Abominable Bride, because even though her face was not shown on the poster, her name was on the image credit. Also, in the recent trailer for "Sherlock's" Victorian special, she was seen in a wedding gown while holding a gun.

The news outlet further states that fans will see most of "Sherlock" characters appear in "The Abominable Bride" such as Mrs. Watson (Amanda Abbington), Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs) and Inspector Lestrade (Rupert Graves). However, Molly Hooper (Louise Brealey) and Anderson (Jonathan Aris) have not yet appeared on the trailer.

Meanwhile, there have been rumors that "Sherlock" Season 4 might be the last we'll see. However, Cumberbatch recently disputed the speculations, saying to Digital Spy that he's willing to age with his character, Sherlock Holmes.

"I'm still enjoying it -- and we'll see how the next series goes, but I've said many times before I'd love to keep ageing with him," said Cumberbatch. "As actors, what intrigues us all to come back and play these characters is that there is scope for them to expand and change and evolve. It'd be an interesting experiment. Martin [Freeman] and I started this relatively young compared to a lot of pairings of Holmes and Watson, so why not?"

Freeman also expressed his commitment on continuing "Sherlock" despite their busy schedules, "I've always believed in doing things for as long as one wants to do them. But the truth is, it has got more and more difficult to factor in. That's the truth of it."
