'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Fails to Topple 'Avatar' as 'The Highest Grossing Movie of All-Time'; 'Chinese' Movie Goers Not So Keen On the Film

First, there were three "Star Wars" episode released, "Episode IV, V, and VI," and all of these three "Star Wars" film did great on the box office and changed movie history at the same time. A few decades after, "Star Wars" creator George Lucas released the second part of the "Star Wars" saga "Episode I, II, and III", and, this time around, not only did the first generation of "Star Wars" film fans rejoice but also the younger generation.

Now, George Lucas along with Disney has again ventured into the "Star Wars" realm and released the newest addition to the already amazing franchise. The reception of the newest "Star Wars" film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has been in compassable. The announcement itself of the film already got the fans raving.

But the true Hollywood question is, whether "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" broke records? And yes, it did, but Hollywood is all about money, so did the newest "Star Wars" film broke box-office records. Unfortunately, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" didn't break any box-office records.

It still seems that James Cameron's "Avatar" is still the highest-grossing film of all time and another of Cameron's film that is "The Titanic" has an also higher earning than "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". George Lucas' newest "Star Wars" addition grossed only $1.733 billion worldwide, while "The Titanic" grossed over $2.86 billion.

The major cause of this small gross despite "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" being the most anticipated film of 2015 is due to the fact that the Chinese movie goers seemed to had the lack of enthusiasm with the film. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" did a wonderful job in theaters all around the world but one of the biggest market for movie, the Chinese people were not too keen on watching the film.

Yet, there is still a possibility that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will rise to the top spot as the highest grossing films due to the fact that the movie is still earning a month after it was released. But will it be able to topple "Avatar"? Share your thoughts.
