Leah Messer and her ex-husband Corey Simms have reportedly settled their custody issues after the judge left them in a room to give them time to figure things out on their own. After which, the divorced couple finally came to a joint custody agreement for their 6-year-old twins, Ali and Aleeah.
During the court hearing on Jan. 27, the judge allowed both parents to talk on their own about their custody agreement. They "were told that they had a few minutes to figure the situation out on their own," a source disclosed to Radar Online. "The judge then left the room and allowed them to talk alone."
Hence, the estranged couple then talked "very civilly" and both agreed to share equal custody of their twins, which the judge then signed. "He [the judge] didn't order anything," the source added.
Well, it appears both parents were able to work it out amicably following their nasty custody battle for the past months. It was October last year when the 23-year-old Teen Mom 2 star lost primary custody of her daughters to Simms after the judge heard that the mother repeatedly failed to send the kids to school on time.
During the season 6 of Teen Mom 2, Simms also made it clear that he and his wife, Miranda Patterson, suspected that Messer has an addiction issue. But he never wanted to fully take away the twins from their mother because he felt it will only be bad for the kids.
But everything seems to be settled now. The insider also revealed that Corey and Miranda want to leave everything behind and be in good terms with Messer. "They're praying [Leah Messer] stays on a good path so everyone can remain at peace," the source added.
Thus, Leah and Corey will split time equally to continue parenting their twins. And anyone will see the progress of their relationship on the season 7 of Teen Mom 2, which will premiere later this year on MTV.
