Teach Your Toddlers How To Swim With These Simple Steps

According to the American Association of Pediatrics, parents should hold off formal swimming lessons until their children turn four or coordinated enough to undergo such lesson. Until then, parents should consider water games, swimming-readiness skill and water safety. Doing these before signing your child for any class can make him or her comfortable with water.

Here's how you can introduce fun swimming activities to your child:

For kids below 3 years old

First, you need to introduce your child to the water. You can start by playing splash in the pool or blow bubbles in the water. Then try encouraging to submerge his or her face in the water. But always remember some children don't like to put their face in the water, so you need to be patient. Hence, better encourage your child and always put a smile on your face to show your kid that you're having fun.

In addition, always remember to hold your baby at all times. And don't force your child to submerge his or her face right away. Children at this age can easily swallow a large amount of water. More so, an infant can drown easily in less than 30 seconds, so be extra careful.

By this time, your child may be able to do many things in the water. Although your kid feels so comfortable in the water, he or she still need constant supervision. Hence, it is very important to remind your toddlers not to swim on their own and not to run near the pool. Moreover, avoid leaving toys in the pool because your child might be tempted to reach for them.
