"Outlander" stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are allegedly dating in real life despite earlier statements from both stars that there is nothing more than just friendship between them. Did the two have a change of heart over the past few months?
Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are reportedly ready to make their relationship official, as "Outlander" Season 2 is all set to premiere this Apr. 9 on Starz. According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Balfe and Heughan seemed to be more than friends with the way they act towards each other on set.
Heughan was allegedly spotted whispering something in Balfe's ear while filming for "Outlander" Season 2. An insider also claims to have spotted the two hold hands even when the cameras were not rolling.
The publication further noted that Balfe and Heughan may be ready to officially announce the current status of their relationship during the premiere of "Outlander" Season 2. According to the publication, there is nothing better than making the big announcement than walking hand-in-hand during the red carpet premiere.
This news, however, does not have any photos to prove its claim and therefore should be taken with a grain of salt. As most fans of "Outlander" can remember, both Balfe and Heughan refuted rumors that they were dating in real life.
"We're not together," Balfe told E! News. "It's funny. We've always said from the get go that we're incredibly great friends. And to have that friendship and that closeness and to be able to get alone as we do on set, it's great that we're able to get along that well."
Heughan joked about the possibility that things can turn romantic between them; however, he was quick to say that it would only make things awkward for the two.
"Yeah, we could try," he initially said. "No, I think it's strange, isn't it?"
Heughan further noted that fans may have been so absorbed with their characters that the romantic relationship between Claire and Jamie is already being brought out in real life.
