It was on Wednesday when Microsoft announced the release of a new Windows 10 preview build for PCs to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. Not only that, but the tech giant also released the Windows 10 Mobile build for Windows Insiders in the Fast ring as well.
The announcement marks Microsoft's first time to release Windows 10 previews for PC and mobile on the same day. Build 14271 is intended for PC, while Build 14267 is designed for mobile.
"This will be the first time we release builds for PC and mobile on the same day and at the same time," wrote Gabe Aul, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft's Engineering Systems Team, in a blog post. "For PC, Build 14271 brings a lot of improvements and bug fixes that are based on feedback we have received from Windows Insiders."
According to VentureBeat, the Windows 10 Mobile build seems promising, as Gabe Aul delivered some huge news in terms of feature updates - perfect for those with specific devices.
Aul wrote, "We're introducing Visual Voicemail for dual-SIM devices such as dual-SIM Lumia 950 XL! Work for this feature was in Friday's release but due to the above mentioned bug impacting notifications it was not working correctly. But now the experience should be working as expected."
Unfortunately for Microsoft, who had been suffering due to the growing success of competitors Apple and Samsung, it doesn't seem like Windows 10 for mobile won't be as successful as they hoped it to be.
"With not many OEM partners envincing support to Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft has taken it upon themselves to come up with what it believes will be the finest hardware configuration to run Windows 10 Mobile," wrote Sovan Mandal of Inferse.
