Children's Hospital Los Angeles Fundraiser: Donor Pledges $1 for Every Free Halloween Card Sent to Patients

The Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is now holding a fundraising effort where the public can send adorable Halloween cards to children who are patients at the hospital. For each card sent, a donor will give the hospital $1.

For this year's Halloween season, CHLA has launched a fundraising event where members of the public are invited to send a coloring card to a child in the hospital. Anyone who wishes to send a card is not required to pay anything. Instead, an unnamed donor will donate $1 to the hospital for every card sent, up to $50,000. The funds will be used to provide medical treatment and care to the hospital's patients.

Apart from the card, each patient will also be given a goody bag and other Halloween treats to celebrate the spooky season, per the CHLA website.

Which Cards Are Available To Send?

The public can select one of three Halloween cards to give to patients at CHLA. One features an elephant wearing a pumpkin costume with the words "Trunk-or-treat!" written on the card.

Another features a giraffe wearing a ghost costume on its head with the message "Boo! Happy Halloween."

The third option features a peacock flying on a witch's broom with the message "Have a spell-tacular Halloween."

Apart from the animals, the cards also featured three locales in Southern California, including the Griffith Observatory, the Pacific Wheel, and Downtown Los Angeles, according to NBC Los Angeles.

The Halloween fundraising event will end on Oct. 31.

"Right now, a generous donor will donate $1 to CHLA for every Halloween card sent to a child in the hospital by Oct. 31, up to $50,000 — so you can make a difference in more ways than one," the website read.

Can the Public Also Make Donations?

In addition to sending children a Halloween card, members of the public can also make a donation to CHLA. The donation page, which can be seen after sending a Halloween card, allows donors to provide either a one-time donation or commit to a monthly gift of any amount. Both options are tax-deductible.
