California Woman Allegedly Sues Parents for $2M for Giving Her 'Ugly Genes'

A California woman has allegedly sued her parents for $2 million for giving her "ugly genes," online posts claimed.

Annabelle Jefferson, 44, allegedly sued her parents, 82-year-old Robert Jefferson and 76-year-old Ruby Jefferson, for giving her unpleasant physical features. The "ugly genes" led her to have three divorces as well as depression and psychological troubles.

In addition to wanting $2 million for Christmas, Annabelle is also allegedly suing her parents for reproducing and giving birth to her in the first place.

"There should be government programs to sterilize ugly people or at least make it impossible for them to have kids," the post read, per Daily Atomic.

Is the Alleged Lawsuit True?

The story first appeared online in 2017 in various Facebook posts. It reappeared on Reddit in various threads this month and was shared by numerous news sites, all citing World News as its origin. A search of the website yielded no article for the story.

However, the story is confirmed to be false, per Snopes, a fact-checking website. Investigators for Snopes also searched court records in California and found no lawsuits filed by Annabelle Jefferson.

One of the online posts also shared an image of Annabelle's alleged parents. A reverse search, however, led to a 2017 article from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation about a couple who have been married for 80 years.

It is unclear whose photo was used for Annabelle.

Annabelle's alleged lawsuit is not the first time there have been reports of false lawsuits. The video earned more than 1 million views and more than 14,000 likes. The user also later claimed that they won the lawsuit and would receive a $5,000 monthly stipend to cover their basic needs.

It is important to note that Theaz's TikTok account includes a satire disclaimer.
