A former school custodian in New Jersey is now facing eight years in prison after he admitted to tainting the utensils and food in the cafeteria with bleach, feces, and urine.
Giovanni Impellizzeri, 27, has pleaded guilty to official misconduct and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). He was working at Elizabeth F. Moore School in 2023 when he allegedly tainted children's food by urinating in the mixing bowls and putting feces in the food.
He was arrested after school officials received anonymous tips about "alarming posts" uploaded on Telegram. The videos allegedly showed "disturbing videos" of Impellizzeri at work. The officials later reported these to authorities, leading to his arrest, People reported.
School Custodian Posted Disturbing Videos While at Work
The tipster said the posts showed Impellizzeri "performing sexual acts" with items from the school, including masturbating on pillows. The posts also showed him urinating in kitchen bowls, spraying bleach into a container of cucumbers, and wiping bread and various utensils on his private parts. The food and utensils were later served to the students.
In an interview with authorities, Impellizzeri admitted to tainting the food and utensils and said he did so to make the children sick. He also added that his behavior sexually aroused him, according to Patch.
After he was arrested, authorities discovered that he was also in possession of child sexual abuse materials of toddlers and infants and was involved in the distribution of child pornography in an unrelated case in Vineland.
What Is His Sentencing?
Prosecutors charged him with third-degree endangering the welfare of a child (possession of child pornography) as well as distribution of child pornography.
Impellizzeri entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors. Under the deal, prosecutors will recommend a five-year sentence on the official misconduct charge and a three-year sentence on the child-endangering charge.
He will also be permanently barred from holding any future public employment as well as getting parole supervision for life, as reported by NJ.com.
Impellizzeri is scheduled to attend his sentencing in March. However, he will undergo a psychological evaluation with the aim of determining whether he would benefit from receiving sex offender treatment.
