Extraordinary births thrill the world, and this is one of them. A mom gave birth to a cute and healthy eight-pound baby girl on a New York-bound train. She delivered her baby right on the Amtrak café car, necessitating the train to stop at a station in Maryland.
Sheera Lowe, the amazing 26-year-old mom, was not expecting to deliver her baby on Feb. 20 on the Amtrak train as her due date was still two weeks away. Washington Post reported that Lowe left home on Feb. 15, together with her four-year-old daughter to visit her husband who was working in N.C. Leaving her daughter with husband, she made her way home and traveled from Philadelphia without any clue that she would soon go into labor.
An account in Huffington Post mentioned that at first, Lowe felt slight contractions, which she was able to sustain. However, when they became more intense, she made her way to the café car of the train, saw a woman who at the time was reading a book and said, "I think I'm in labor. Can you please help me?
The woman sprang into action, assisted Lowe, and informed train employees. The conductor was informed of the situation and the train made an emergency stop at the Aberdeen station where medical personnel attended to Lowe.
Just minutes after emergency people hopped in, the healthy eight-pound baby girl, Trinity, was born. Lowe was very thankful for the woman's help. She said, "She wouldn't leave my side in the whole thing." She added further, "I'm so happy and so grateful she stayed."
Lowe and Trinity were brought to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center to recuperate. Lowe didn't know anything about the woman, except that her name was Christina. Lowe in turn, named her daughter, Trinity Christina, so as to honor the kindness of the Good Samaritan who helped her go through the ordeal of delivering a baby on an Amtrak train.
