An Oklahoma teacher wrote an open letter to the parents of his students -- accusing them of neglecting their children. Thus, he is asking for the parents to love their kids the way educators do.
In the brutally honest letter, the AP Literature teacher, Steve Wedel, who have been teaching for 10 years, accused the parents of his students of being irresponsible. Likewise, he is also blaming the "inept" lawmakers for the struggles he's been facing as an educator. Hence, he is asking all parents to "vote for people who will help teachers educate and nurture the kids we share."
The 49-year-old educator from Western Heights High School said he loves his students so much that he even call them "my kids." In fact, he's been keeping blankets in the classroom to keep his students warm when they are cold. And he feeds them with food "when Michelle Obama's school breakfast or lunch isn't enough to fill their bellies."
The veteran teacher then criticized parents for neglecting their kids, "Often, they stay at school with me for an hour and a half after the bell rings because they don't want to go home to you," the letter reads, which has been viewed 10,000 times in just two days. He also said that a lot of his students are seeking for the love of their parents, but "too often they don't find it" in their home.
Wedel then continued by criticizing lawmakers for cutting down education funds. Then, begged the parents to be wiser and vote for the people who will pay attention to the children's education to give kids a better future. "We can't do it alone, anymore," he said to ABC.
As of the moment, Wedel's blog post has been viewed 39,000 times. And he said he already received different comments from the netizens.
