Should ‘Married at First Sight’ be Cancelled After Several Failed Relationships Between Couples?

"Married at First Sight" Season 3 recently aired its reunion special "Six Months Later," which revealed that all three couples - Sam-Neil, Vanessa-Tres and Ashley-David have all chosen to go on their separate ways. With the increasing likelihood of divorce on the show, should the FYI reality series be cancelled?

The FYI reality show "Married at First Sight" aims to wed strangers on their first day of meeting. This experimental marriage and the pairing of couples is based on various tests to see which ones are compatible with each other.

However, as "MAFS" has recently ended its third season on FYI, it only proved that these compatibility tests are not enough to keep a marriage going. As reported by SheKnows, there seems to be a problem with the premise of the show.

The publication noted that "Married at First Sight" only offers one part of the equation - which is the commitment of the ceremony of marriage. However, what the show fails to realize is that marriage goes beyond this and that a healthy relationship grows from a deeper foundation such as friendship.

"Married at First Sight" Season 3 couples exhibited this in the obvious lack of chemistry between Ashley Doherty and David Norton as seen in the first episode all the way to its last. Many fans were surprised when Vanessa Nelson and Tres Russell, who initially chose to keep their marriage, revealed that they have also decided to divorce because they lacked intimacy.

The only good thing, however, about "Married at First Sight" is that it seemed to make its participants realize more about themselves during the process. Does this mean the show has still fulfilled its purpose or should it be cancelled on TV?

Viewers previously raised a petition on Change.org to cancel the airing of "MAFS" in its Australian counterpart on Channel 9.

"This television show is a disgrace. It is morally unsound and should not be aired on Australian television," the petition reads.

Over 20,000 supporters have signed the petition, but the network still went on and aired the experimental marriage on TV.

What do you think? Should "Married at First Sight" be cancelled after Season 3?
