"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is happening! The CW recently confirmed the show's renewal, which surprisingly was not taken so well by fans and viewers of the show.
Many fans were disappointed when news about "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 renewal made rounds on the Internet. Inquisitr noted that a lot of the show's viewers thought that the current season will serve as its series finale because of the drop in ratings.
"TVD" also lost its lead actress, Nina Dobrev, in Season 6, which only fueled speculations that the show should have been cancelled right after that. Many viewers, especially "Delena" fans, stated that Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder's characters were their only reason for watching the show.
The same publication noted, however, in another report that there may be a big moment for "Delena" in the series finale of "The Vampire Diaries." In an interview with EP Julie Plec, it has been revealed that Dobrev may still reprise her role, especially because Damon is still waiting for Elena.
"All I can say is that Damon is committed to being at Elena's side when she wakes up in however many years it takes, and he's going to do everything he can to make sure he still believes he's worth of her" she said.
