Ivanka Trump, the famous daughter of Donald Trump, and The Trump Organization's executive vice president of development and acquisitions, require references before she would be hiring you. For this amazing woman, a potential candidate is one who does not have any qualms giving his prospective employer his references.
Business Insider reported the exact words of Ivanka, saying, "If there's one single thing that I do every single time, it requires references." She said that "true stars" have references from places that they have worked. And, for Ivanka, the references would always be happy to speak about the employee.
Ivanka also said, "We want self-starters. We want people who are optimistic, who see challenges as opportunities." She described it further as, "People who are dedicated, who really are accountable to one another and toward achieving shared goals, who are ambitious." Trump even said that she like people who are not shy about using the word "ambitious."
Aside from these, Ivanka also emphasized that she makes sure that they're "the right cultural fit" for the company. By requiring references, she is able to make the proper determination.
According to Ivanka, "It's always a huge red flag for me when somebody's reticent or reluctant or a little slow in providing thoughtful references that are a testament to them as a person and their professional accomplishments."
Ivanka Trump also mentioned that it doesn't necessarily mean that when somebody gets a negative reference, she is no longer a potential candidate for hiring. Her take on a negative reference is being able to know the strengths and weaknesses of the applicant.
Trump has also given a strong warning against having hired the person who isn't fit for the job. She said, "Mis-hiring is a huge mistake. It's a tremendous opportunity cost throwing the position to the wrong person. It's often something that isn't rectified for a long period of time."
Ivanka's philosophies in business have made her one of the most successful businesswomen in the world today. Daily Mail has also reported that aside from being a great businesswoman, she is also a great mom going to the extent of trimming her daughter's hair, and being good at it.
