'Game of Thrones' Star Carice Van Houten Expecting First Baby With Guy Pearce

"Game of Thrones" star Carice Van Houten and Australian actor Guy Pearce are expecting their first baby together. The woman popularly known as Melisandre in the hit HBO series announced her pregnancy on her Instagram page.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the 39-year-old Dutch actress confirmed the news by posting a juxtaposed photo of herself and her baby daddy on social media. In spite of her very serious character, Carice van Houten showed a lighter side of herself with the accompanying caption.

"Yes. It's true," van Houten wrote with a baby emoji. "Let the shadow baby jokes begin," referencing to Melisandre's birth of a shadow demon baby in "Game of Thrones" season 2.

While Carice Van Houten is keeping herself busy with the highly-anticipated release of "Game of Thrones" season six, her 48-year-old beau is preoccupied as he films an Australian series called "Jack Irish." The show, based on Peter Temple's detective models, stars Guy Pearce as the television series' eponymous lead role.

E! News reports that Carice Van Houten appeared on "Late Night With Seth Meyers" just last month. In a sketch entailing a baby shower, Van Houten perfectly showcased why she deserves the be The Red Woman on "Game of Thrones" -- and that she's not as serious and initimadting in real life, as compared to her "Game of Thrones" character.
