Fans recently expressed their outcry over the events that took place on "The 100" Season 3. Many fans and viewers were not expecting to see the CW series kill one of its major characters, Lexa.
As previously reported on Parent Herald, "The 100" Season 3 fans took Lexa's death negatively and thought it was another one of TV's ways of killing off its lesbian and bisexual characters. Series creator Jason Rothenberg recently spoke out and shared his thoughts on the fans' negative response to Lexa's death in an interview with TV Insider.
Rothenberg admitted that he knew fans would get emotional when "The 100" Season 3 decided to kill Lexa, who was an important character to LGBQT fans. However, the series creator was not expecting "the level of outrage that it's generated from some people."
Rothenberg also shared that they did not kill Lexa on "The 100" Season 3 because of her sexuality.
"...we've created this world where it doesn't matter what color you are or whether you're a male or a female or who you love, whether you're gay or straight. It's about survival," he said.
However, Rothenberg teased that there is still a possibility that Lexa will return on "The 100" Season 3 through technological reincarnation.
"...because to get to reincarnation, someone has to die first. And so we are now telling a story in which a human mind can be uploaded into the City of Light," Rothenberg teased.
The showrunner added that fans should remember that there was a flame that came out of Lexa's head when she died, which confirms that Rothenberg had already planned for her reincarnation even before "The 100" was slammed on social media over Lexa's death.
