A teenager suffers from a stomach condition that causes it to bloat every time she eats, according to the Daily Mail.
Rachael Harley suffers from a digestive problem which results in her stomach bloating and causes extreme pain. The 19-year old student is diagnosed with abdominal adhesions or bands of fibrous tissue between her organs. With every meal that she consumes, her stomach expands and makes her look like she's nine months pregnant. Since October, she has been confined at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and attending physicians still don't know what to do to treat her condition.
"My weight's gone up and down in a very small space of time. I put on weight after surgery, but it did get down to 84 pounds at one point because I couldn't eat. My mom couldn't bring herself to look at me, I was just bones. But every time I do eat, I look about nine months pregnant. Somebody in the hospital canteen actually asked me how far along I was. I didn't even know what to say. I felt so awful that I lied. It's horrible. It feels as though my stomach is about to stretch open," she said.
Last April 28, Rachael was rushed to the hospital after her stomach suddenly swelled overnight. She underwent various tests and scans but doctors could not figure out what was wrong with her. A few days later, she was released from the hospital and a week after that she was brought to the hospital again for swelling and extreme pain. In July, Rachael underwent an investigative operation to determine what was wrong with her and it was revealed that she was suffering from adhesions, bands of fibrous tissues on her bowel and appendix.
