After the release of "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" over the weekend, director Zack Snyder is starting work on his second movie in the DC Cinematic Universe "Justice League: Part 1." Parts of the upcoming film were already revealed in BVS and here's what else you need to know about the next superhero movie:
(This contains some spoilers for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.")
1) When does filming begin?
"Justice League: Part 1" will begin shooting this April to meet its Nov. 17, 2017 theater date. Apart from Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill), another member of the Justice League was introduced in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice"- Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). Her story will also have its stand-alone movie feature. Her origin will be directed by Patty Jenkins and will hit theaters June 2017.
2) Who are also in the Justice League?
Other members like Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) were hinted in BVS, too, in a scene where Bruce Wayne acquired Lex Luthor's files about meta humans. These characters will be introduced in the "Wonder Woman" movie next year, but they are set to have their stand-alone films unveiling between 2018 and 2020, per Buzzfeed.
3) Who heads the Justice League?
In BVS, Superman sacrificed his life so that the biggest threat, Doomsday, also dies with him. During his funeral, Bruce Wayne brought up the idea of forming a team of superheroes and it was hinted in the end that Superman is still alive. Snyder intended for Batman to build Justice League instead of Superman. "I just feel like Bruce Wayne having to go out and find these seven samurai by himself, that's a lot more interesting of a premise," the director said of his decision, per Entertainment Weekly.
4) What will likely happen in "Justice League: Part 1's" storyline?
As Snyder notes, Batman and Wonder Woman will be rounding up their merry band of crusaders and protectors to form the group. However, the movie will also be about the two superheroes' attempts to bring Superman back to the fold. His rebirth will be part of the story in "Justice League: Part 1."
5) Who else will figure in the new league?
"Justice League" will have a second part, which is scheduled in theaters for 2019. Den Of Geek reports that there's potential to introduce Green Lantern in the second film. There are speculations that Black Canary will make her appearance as well.
