On the heels of the release of "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" (BVS), director Zack Snyder revealed more details to the DC Comics extended movie universe. In particular, the director discussed the latest for "Justice League: Part 1," which will begin production now that BVS has hit theaters.
Zack Snyder said that they went with casting Ezra Miller for the role of "The Flash" in the "Justice League" movie for one particular reason: it was a good fit. This meant that production had to reject Grant Gustin, who is currently playing "The Flash" in The CW television series.
"I'm very strict with this universe and I just don't see a version where...that (tone is) not our world," the director told New York Daily News. "Even if Grant Gustin is my favorite guy in the world and he's very good, we made a commitment to the multi-verse [idea], so it's just not a thing that's possible."
The tone of Snyder's DC Cinematic Universe carry a darker theme as evidenced in BVS, which will officially be shown March 25 across America. Gustin's take on "The Flash" on television is different and his pleasant appeal won't work in the movie versions.
Meanwhile, Zack Snyder also said that "Justice League: Part 1" is not the official title of the movie and this could change when he's done creating the logo. "I'm in that phase where I've been drawing logos and I've been drawing title treatments and stuff like that to try and figure out what it means, what Justice League is, visually, so we'll see if the name evolves with this visual presentation," the director told Collider.
It is assumed that "Justice League" will begin shooting this spring in England where the Metropolis and Gotham City are set. The movie will have Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill returning to play Batman and Superman respectively. It will also feature Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Aquaman's wife, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
"Justice Leage: Part 1" is set for a November 2017 theater release.
