"Grand Theft Auto 6" by developer Rockstar Games is alive as reports surface that the new "Grand Theft Auto" game has started production. Interestingly, reports also surfaced that "GTA" was supposed to also have gone to Tokyo, Las Vegas and Bogota.
According to Game Spot, Rockstar Games seriously considered giving "GTA 6" a full Tokyo version. Rockstar Games supposedly went into R&D preliminaries for the Tokyo plans around the time that "GTA 3" and "Vice City" came about. R&D, however, yielded what it ought to and revealed the reasons why Rockstar Games could not have "GTA" in a full Tokyo route.
Tech Radar reports that a source told the media outlet that Tokyo's road system would have been problematic for "Grand Theft Auto 6." One thing the R&D in Tokyo did for Rockstar Games was to confirm that "GTA 6" should stay on the U.S. roads. If "GTA 6" should move outside of the U.S., Rockstar Games would have to make extensive changes to the game, including brands and cars.
Rockstar Games did not only have their eyes on "GTA: Tokyo." In 2003, trademark applications for "GTA: Bogota" and "GTA: Sin City" indicated further expansion plans for the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise.
Gamers would not mind seeing "Grand Theft Auto 6" set in a new location. A separate Parent Herald article collated reports that "GTA 6" will be entirely transcontinental, switching from familiar U.S. terrains to new London routes. Not only will the setting possibly change in "GTA 6," but so will the lead characters. "GTA 6" is reported to be seriously deliberating on bringing in a new female lead and her male counterpart.
Tech Radar says that while early production work has started for "GTA 6," the location has yet to be finalize, but some say that "GTA 6" will stay within the U.S. territory. One point of anticipation for "GTA 6" is how the map size for the new "Grand Theft Auto" game is expected to be twice the size of the map for "GTA 5."
