"Furious 8" is rumored to cast Charlize Theron as the franchise's next villain for the upcoming installment. While the cast and crew have yet to officially confirm Theron's possible participation in the sequel, an earlier interview with Michelle Rodriguez seemingly hints on the addition of more female characters on the movie.
Rodriguez, who plays the role of Leticia 'Letty' Ortiz in the "Fast and Furious" movie franchise, told Metro that the role of women should be empowered in the upcoming installments. Rodriguez learned about Eva Mendes' reprisal of her role as Agent Monica Fuentes in "Furious 8" and hoped that their characters will be in good terms.
"I think that first off, girls should stop fighting each other and we should start uniting for once," Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez also shared that "Fast and Furious 8" should be "all encompassing" and stated that the movie can take inspiration from "Mad Max," which she claimed was a good movie that showed both men and women can be powerful. This started speculations that Charlize Theron will be joining "Furious 8" because she starred in the movie cited by Rodriguez.
While Theron's participation in "Furious 8" remains nothing but mere speculation as of writing, Cleveland.com reports on the film's shooting in Cleveland anywhere from mid-April to mid-June.
While "Fast and Furious 8" is expected to be set in New York City, the publication reports on the possibility that majority of the action sequences will be shot in Cleveland instead; the same as what "Spider-Man 3" did in the past.
"Fast and Furious 8" hits theatres on Apr. 14, 2017.
