Seth Meyers returned to his late-night show on Tuesday after taking a night off. In the "Late Night" episode, the host revealed that his wife, Alexi Ashe, delivered their baby boy two weeks earlier than expected. However, the highlight of the night came when the comedian -- often known for his witty antics -- started getting emotional as he shared the name of their new baby.
Seth Meyers' wife gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Sunday, March 27, according to Today. Although he was bursting with joy for the arrival of his son, Meyers revealed on "Late Night" that he went into a state of shock when his wife went into labor that day. "The baby came two weeks early so we really weren't expecting this to happen," he said.
The journey to the hospital wasn't without drama, though. Meyers revealed that the Uber cab driver was overwhelmed seeing Alexi in pain and screaming in the back seat. "She was screaming, 'I don't like this!'" Meyers recounted.
Once in the hospital, Meyers was amused to find that the staff at the hospital were all wearing Easter bunny ears. Nevertheless, his wife seemed to be disinterested about the Easter theme.
"I couldn't stop laughing!" Meyers told the audience. "One because half the people in the room were wearing bunny ears and two because I was thinking back to all the people asking us if we were prepared for this."
When Meyers' son was born, he said he was exploding with laughter at that time. Although he was also spotted sobbing at the thought of his first baby.
Meyers also revealed that he named his son Ash Olsen Meyers to honor the two most important women in his life. The late-night show host explained Ash came from his wife's maiden name, while Olsen came was taken from his mother's maiden name, as reported by Vanity Fair.
To help Meyers celebrate the arrival of his baby, Tracy Morgan stopped by the show. But the actor didn't come empty handed. The "30 Rock" actor gave a bowl of condoms to Meyers as a gift, as per Esquire.
