‘Star Wars’ Netflix Series News & Update: Jedi, Sith Face-Off In Upcoming Live-Action Series

"Star Wars" with a live action face-off between Jedi and Sith sides on Netflix is coming, just not so soon. A supposed "Star Wars" live action Season 1 trailer for Netflix was recently passed around. However, this "Star Wars" Season 1 Netflix trailer is just a joke.

Melty reports that "Star Wars" fans were fooled into believing that Netflix finally released the Season 1 trailer for the live action series. The Netflix trailer supposedly revealed that Season 1 for the live action "Star Wars" series is called "Fury Of Maul." With Darth Maul in focus, the "Star Wars" live action series on Netflix would have been a prequel for the franchise.

While disappointment had been palpable among fans who have been waiting for updates on the "Star Wars" live action series, the fake Netflix trailer by IGN is acknowledged as masterful work. If anything, the IGN trailer hiked up clamor to see the live action "Star Wars" series on Netflix.

Variety points out that Netflix would be hard-put keeping the "Star Wars" live action series a secret. Seeing as "Star Wars" projects tend to have a more controlled and detailed planning, a live action series on Netflix will not be any exception. At the moment, a "Star Wars" live action series on Netflix may not even figure near the top of the priority list.

According to Collider, the "Star Wars" live action series on Netflix should have been pushed forward by the success of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." However, the clamor for new "Star Wars" films is also a double-edged sword.

The "Star Wars" live action series had been announced as early as 2005, before Disney acquired LucasFilm. Back then, the "Star Wars" live action series had been slotted with the "Star Wars: Underworld" title. The live action series had as much as 50 scripts in the works.

Still, progress on a "Star Wars" live action series could yet surprise fans. Thanks to IGN and the fake Season 1 Darth Maul promo, interest in a "Star Wars" live action series on Netflix has been well and truly rekindled.
