"Beauty and the Beast" starring Emma Watson will hit theaters in March 2017, but Disney has been busy conducting test screenings for select audiences. The common initial reaction is that the film is "extraordinary" and teasers or promos are expected for release soon.
Disney heads disclosed about "Beauty and the Beast" during the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas Wednesday. However, no clips were shared with the audience during the studio's short presentation.
The executives told the event's attendees that test screening reactions described the film as "extraordinary" and a "breathtaking reimagining." Disney believes their live-action spins on fairy tales have been working so far, per Hypable.
Meanwhile, Disney composer Alan Menken wrote three additional songs for the live-action "Beauty and the Beast" film to differentiate it from other productions, such as the cartoons or the stage musical. Stitch Kingdom reports that Menken wrote "Forever More" to replace "If I Can't Love Her," which Beast (Dan Stevens) sings for Belle (Emma Watson).
"Beauty and the Beast" also stars Ian McKellen, Josh Gad, Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor and Luke Evans. The latter, who plays Gaston, gave fans a teaser on how he portrayed his role during a recent guest stint on a TV talk show, Parent Herald previously reported.
Menken also hinted that there are some changes to the sequence in the story in order to fit the film's version. How do you think the story will turn out? Sound off in the comments below!
