"Game Of Thrones" fans have been giving Queen Cersei actress Lena Headey a difficult time with the series' season 5 finale as the bone of contention. Lena Headey however, made the decision as a mother and as an actress when she opted to get a "Game Of Thrones" body double in the season 5 episode.
A number of fans displayed outrage and disappointment over the appearance of a body double for Lena Headey in this particular finale. Among the protest points is the use of a young female body to stand in for Lena Headey.
To be sure, Lena Headey is no stranger to nudity as an actress, and the "Game Of Thrones" season finale would not have been a big deal. New York Daily News reports, however, that the walk of shame for Queen Cersei in the "Game Of Thrones" season finale was a layered issue for Lena Headey.
As a performer, Lena Headey stresses that she goes through strong emotions when she acts. The "Game Of Thrones" finale walk of shame would have built up anger in Lena Headey, which is not what Queen Cersei needed to portray in that scene.
The "Game Of Thrones" walk of shame, where an angry mob threw things at the disgraced royalty, needed to explore the vulnerable side of Queen Cersei. Had the scene called for anger, Lena Headey would have been able to give Queen Cersei and "Game Of Thrones" fans that anger.
Mirror reports that Lena Headey also made the decision for that "Game Of Thrones" scene as a mother. According to Lena Headey, having to shoot nude for a character she played year after year in all Queen Cersei's villainous glory was something that got to her as a mother.
"I film every year and I have kids and they know me now and [being naked in the scene] was just too much on top of that," Lena Headey said. "So yeah, people that get it thought it was great."
Lena Headey has two children. The "Game Of Thrones" star's son Wylie Elliot is 6 and her daughter Ted is turning 1. Lena Headey was, in fact, pregnant with Ted when she filmed "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies."
According to Lena Headey, she did not leave her body stand-in Rebecca Cleave to hang dry. The "Game Of Thrones" star was present during the three days that Cleave had to shoot Queen Cersei naked. Lena Headey gave Cleave moral support because the "Game Of Thrones" actress knew exactly how difficult that scene was, not just physically, but also emotionally.
