'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice' Suffers Another Blow: Beaten By 'Zootopia' At Worldwide Box Office

The blows just keep on coming for Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." Disney's light-hearted animated movie, "Zootopia," has beaten the DC Comics superhero movie at the worldwide box office.

"Zootopia" has earned a total of $907 million at the worldwide box office, Inquisitr reports. On the other hand, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has earned $852 million worldwide when it was expected to gross a lot more than those numbers.

Warner Brothers' "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has an estimated total production budget of $410 million, making it one of the most expensive movies ever made, according to CinemaBlend. Disney's "Zootopia" has an estimated total production cost of just over $100 million, Variety reports. These figures show how much more profitable "Zootopia" is compared to Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill's superhero movie is.

The box office disappointment of "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" made many observers suspect that director Zack Snyder will be replaced for "Justice League: Part One." However, Warner Brothers have not done so and will only take a look at what exactly went wrong with Batman and Superman's first movie together, Geeks of Doom reports.

One of the biggest factors in the success of "Zootopia" and the disappointing box office returns for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is the critical reception for these two movies. The Disney movie has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 98 percent while the Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill DC Comics adaptation has a Rotten Tomatoes score of only 28 percent.
