Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Adds ‘Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime,’ ‘Comix Zone’ & More

Xbox One's impressive haul of backwards-compatible games grew bigger this week with the addition of 5 classic arcade games. The new titles are sure to provide gamers with a healthy dose of nostalgia, but not much else.

Larry Hryb, the program director of Microsoft's Xbox Live department, took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce the new backwards-compatible games. These are "Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime," "Comix Zone," "Altered Beast," "The Cave" and "Double Dragon: Neon."

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime

Behaviour Santiago's action-adventure offering features four-player cooperative gameplay where each player takes on the role of a Ghostbuster. The team is tasked to do what they do best: control the situation and defeat rogue ghosts.

Comix Zone

"Comix Zone" is a popular beat 'em up arcade game that debuted in 1995. As its name implies, the game is presented as a moving comic book where levels are in pages and characters communicate through talk bubbles. Game Spot pointed out that if it wasn't for the game's unique style, it would've have been just another mediocre beat 'em up game.

Altered Beast

This 1988 gem is a beat 'em up arcade game set in Ancient Greece. Players control a centurion who is brought back to life by Zeus to rescue his daughter Athena. Players can transform into a selection of mythological beasts via collecting level-ups throughout the game.

The Cave

Created by Double Fine Productions and published by Sega in early 2013, "The Cave" is a puzzle-platform adventure game which requires intuition and strategy. At the start of the game, players must choose only three of the seven characters to try and uncover the many mysteries of the magical talking cave. IGN calls the game "delightful" and jam-packed with action and funny one-liners.

Double Dragon: Neon

In "Double Dragon: Neon," players take on the role of martial artists Billy Lee and Jimmy Lee as they travel to exotic locales and battle eccentric baddies to rescue Marian from the dreaded Shadow Warriors gang. The game's Xbox 360 version received 3.5 out of 5 stars on Meta Critic.
