Actor-comedian George Lopez gave a helping hand to the family of singer Prince who died more than a week ago. He reportedly loaned $20,000 to the kin of the "Purple Rain" singer pending the decision on who will claim the estate of the deceased celebrity.
Yahoo TV reported that George Lopez confirmed helping out the family of Prince especially his older half-brother Alfred Jackson. "I assisted the brothers that were in need at that particular moment," he said.
The comedian also shared that he was alone in Columbus, Ohio, when he learned about the untimely death of the singer. "It wasn't an easy day or weekend," George Lopez claimed about Prince's death. "Thank God we have each other. We really kind of brought each other back up. It was tough news."
According to New York Daily News, Prince and George Lopez had a close relationship though they were not always seen together in public. Their most popular appearance was during the comedian's show "Lopez Tonight" in 2011.
It also noted that it may take years before Prince's assets could be properly handled since the singer did not leave any legal will prior to his death. George Lopez's financial help is expected to assist the family members, who have relied on the singer for their survival.
After his death, full-sibling Tyka Nelson and six other half-siblings have submitted papers to the court asking that they be the people in charge of the $300 million fortune that Prince left behind. Minnesota law dictates that in the absence of a will, the estate of a deceased can be shared by his or her brothers and sisters.
Daily Mail earlier reported that a man claiming he is the love child of Prince also surfaced prompting heir investigators to verify the claim. Information revealed in the same report said that the probable heir was the son of the "Purple Rain" singer to a woman he met in the 1980s.
