Celine Dion's husband, Rene Angelil, recently underwent throat cancer surgery and is now recovering, according to reports.
E! News confirmed that the 72-year-old man is now recovering after a tumor in his throat was removed Dec. 23.
Dion's representative confirmed the news, saying: "Putting to rest rumors that have been circulating these past few weeks, Renee Angelil's office confirmed today that he has been recovering at home in Las Vegas following surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his throat on December 23rd. The procedure was successful and Mr. Angelil was released from hospital a few days following the surgery."
Dion also released a personal statement, saying: "I don't want Rene to stress out with work-related issues. I want him to focus on getting back to 100 percent. I've been doing my shows at the Colosseum and everything's under control."
The singer added that they have been spending quality time as a family at home and thanked God for helping her entire family get through the ordeal.
In 1999, Angelil was first diagnosed with throat cancer. He received treatment in 2001.
He and Dion first met when the singer was only 12 years old and he was 38. They started dating when Celine was 19 and were engaged four years later. They got married in December 1994.
The couple has three children - 13-year-old Rene Charles and 3-year-old twins, Eddy and Nelson.
Dion is an award-winning singer and the voice behind hit songs like "My Heart Will Go On," "The Power of Love," "Because You Love Me" and "To Love You More."
