Maria Kang, more popularly known as the "hot Facebook mom" who received criticisms about her 2013 post, successfully created the "No Excuse Moms Movement," according to reports.
Kang was able to form the movement that is made up of approximately 700 local groups of mothers worldwide, who gather regularly for free workouts in public areas.
In 2013, Kang posted the "What's Your Excuse" photo of herself with her three boys. In the photo, the 32-year-old mom was featured wearing only a sports bra and showed off her incredibly toned abs. The photo has gone viral with approximately 16 million views on Facebook but majority of the 12,000 comments she received were negative.
Despite the criticisms she received, Kang is now moving forward with her new engagement. She told Yahoo Shine: "I feel like all the backlash was worth it. I feel like my original image and message sparked an international dialogue that woke people up and made them question their excuses. I've always stood my ground that my intention was to inspire - and I have - and it's exciting."
Her exercise groups in the United States have extended from Elk Grove, California to Oklahoma City, the Bronx and Chicago. Other countries that have become involved include Aruba, China, Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand and Guam.
Kang also shared in an interview with Yahoo Shine that most of the moms who are part of the movement merely rely on their body weight for their exercises. "I strongly believe that health starts at home and that in order to raise a healthy child, you need to be a healthy parent."
As of late, her Facebook page has already gained nearly 275,000 likes. One of her fans, Lori Ann Hare, contacted Kang through Facebook and told her she wanted to start her own spinoff Facebook Group, the "No Excuse Mom Challenge."
The two joined forces and rounded up fitness moms to produce an annual swimsuit calendar this year.
