The United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAESA) and the United Kingdom Space Agency have agreed to collaborate on different space projects for long and short terms. The agreement was sealed in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was signed by the heads of both agencies, H.E Dr. Khalifa Al Romaithi (UAE) and Dr. David Parker (UK).
According to the British government, the MoU will cover joint studies and projects between the two countries, as well as the exchange of data and information. Personnel will also be given training in both agencies.
UAESA And UK Space Agency Seek To Improve Space Policies
It is the hope of the UAESA and the UK Space Agency to come up with improved policies for conducting space explorations in the breath of human development and public interest. The agencies also plan to conduct joint educational programs and activities that will help promote space science and technology, per Space.
Al Romaithi said that the UAE's ties with the British are already evident in many sectors like business and education. "We are looking forward to further augmenting this relationship via the new MoU, which is in line with our strategic plans to expand collaboration with the UK," he said in the press statement.
On the other hand, Parker stated that the potential of collaborating with the UAESA in various space projects holds more opportunities. The British space agency is already a leader in space explorations, but its partnership with UAE should strengthen it.
UAESA, UK Space Agency And Satellite Data
Nature World News reports that funding for UAESA and the UK Space Agency is separate and independent despite the collaboration. Prior to signing the MoU, Britain and the UAE also came into partnership in the development and use of the DubaiSat-2 and Deimos-2 satellite data at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), per the Arabian Aerospace.
