The remake to "Interview With The Vampire" was first announced in 2014 with Josh Boone assigned to write and direct the film. It looks like the screenplay is finally finished and production is ready to roll as Boone hints this on social media. Jared Leto is reportedly eyed for the role of Lestat.
Josh Boone posted a photo of the "Interview With The Vampire" screenplay on his Instagram to reveal that it has been finished in April 2016. Screen Rant reports that talks about the "Interview With The Vampire" remake have been going on for years, but nothing has materialized with it. However, Boone's newest post confirms that the reboot is still on the table with Universal Pictures.
Fans of the Anne Rice novel noted that the reboot's screenplay includes two separate books -- "Interview With The Vampire" and "The Vampire Lestat" -- which means it will not follow the same storyline as the first movie adaptation. "Interview With The Vampire" first ran in theaters in 1994 and it starred Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst and Antonio Banderas.
It is not known if these actors will be attached to the new movie as official casting has not yet been made. However, Boone has hinted on Twitter that he only envisions Jared Leto in the role of Lestat on "Interview With The Vampire." The character was played by Cruise in the first movie.
Meanwhile, the son of Anne Rice, Christopher, also confirmed that the "Interview With The Vampire" remake is in place. He posted a message to Josh Boone on his Twitter too. Watch scenes from the first movie in the video below.
