Kobe Bryant Post-Retirement News & Update: 5-Time NBA Champion To Star In A Movie? To Venture Into Sports Writing?

Basketball legend Kobe Bryant is not slowing down anytime soon. After ending his legendary 20-year career with an epic 60-point final game, the five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers was hinting on his recent post-retirement interviews that he will be going back to work soon to pursue another passion.

Will Kobe Bryant Star In A Movie?

A movie starring Kobe Bryant might happen one day but not quite yet. However, the retired professional basketball player is currently working on a multi-platform video project that is based on his "Dear Basketball" poem, which was published last year on The Players' Tribune to announce his NBA retirement.

Sports Illustrated reports that Kobe Bryant will be the narrator of the animated short film that will be launched this fall. "Tangle" and "The Little Mermaid" animator Glenn Keane, and "Indiana Jones" series and "Star Wars" music scorer John Williams will also be a part of the NBA superstar's latest project.

Kobe Bryant said in a statement that "Dear Basketball" would be his perfect tribute to the sports that he has loved for so long. The Black Mamba of NBA is hoping that the special projects will inspire his fans across the globe.

Kobe Bryant Is Vocal About His Passion For Writing

In one of his post-retirement interviews with CNN, Kobe Bryant said that he loves writing and creating documentaries. The former Los Angeles Lakers All-Star guard even revealed that he was writing and editing at his office before his victorious final game.

Kobe Bryant, however, clarified that he is not interested in writing a book about his NBA career. He also disclosed that finding his next passion after retirement was not an easy process.

"You really have to work hard to understand what you want next," Kobe Bryant stated. "Storytelling through sports...I'm really excited to bring that to the world."

Kobe Bryant, who had a hugely successful 20-year NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, retired with 18 All-Star selections and 33,643 career points. He reportedly made an estimated $600 million in his entire NBA stint.
