Details of forthcoming "Star Wars" films are snapped up as quickly as soon as they're dished especially if by someone like JJ Abrams. However, JJ Abrams is not above being coy about "Star Wars" details, and the Skywalker secrets in particular.
In "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," when Carrie Fisher's General Leia Organa seemingly snubbed Chewbacca, JJ Abrams explained it out as a directorial mistake. The scene "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" had Leia Organa turning to Daisy Ridley's Rey for comfort after Han Solo died.

To fans, Chewbacca would have been the more logical source of comfort and empathy. After all, Chewbacca has a long history with Han Solo and Leia Organa. the newly introduced Rey getting the comfort-seeking embrace from Leia Organa did not make sense.

New York Daily News reports that JJ Abrams explained the "Star Wars" scene as merely two women of The Force instinctively sensing and supporting each other despite being strangers. Having Chewbacca stand by was supposedly a stage direction mistake by JJ Abrams.
Did JJ Abrams give the explanation to lead "Star Wars" fans away from sussing out the real relationship between Rey and Leia Organa? Did "Star Wars" fans get too close to guessing the real relationship dynamics?

According to HitFix, JJ Abrams also made contradictory statements about whether or not Rey's parents appeared in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Initially, JJ Abrams said that Rey's parents were not in "Star Wars" Episode 7.
JJ Abrams immediately recalled his words about Rey's parents having yet to make an appearance in the "Star Wars" film. JJ Abrams supposedly clarified that he meant to say Rey was not meant to discover her parents in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Interestingly, although JJ Abrams turned down directing "Star Wars" Episode 8, he remains very much in the picture teasing tidbits here and there. Could JJ Abrams still be feeling protective of "Star Wars" and covering up the franchise's secrets?
