'BrainDead' Teaser & Cast: New Show From 'The Good Wife' Creators All Set; What Fans Should Know [VIDEO]

"The Good Wife" creators, Robert and Michelle King, are taking no breaks after the CBS legal drama series ended. The Kings are returning to the network with a brand new series called "BrainDead." What is the show about and when will it air?

"BrainDead" features a young woman who snags her first job at Washington, D.C. Not long after, she learns that the people working in the Hill are actually infected by an alien parasite, which has altered their brains. This explains why many of them are without basic human decency and seem to be oblivious to serving the people in the best way. The premise might be odd enough as a sci-fi series, but the show is actually a political comedy.

"It seemed like the best way to address the news today - not straight, but as the opening act of a horror movie," said the Kings in a statement announcing "BrainDead" in 2015, per Variety. Their idea was lauded by CBS chairperson Nina Tassler who appreciated the humor of the show. The show arrives at the right time as America is in the midst of election season. A new political satire should hopefully provide viewers a biting commentary that reflects real life situations.

"BrainDead" stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Laurel. It also has Tony Shaloub ("Monk") and Aaron Tveit ("Grease: Live!"). The TV show will begin airing June 13 at 10 p.m. It will be a half-hour comedy offering, with Ridley Scott serving as executive producer.

Filming for "BrainDead" took place on location in Queens since the start of spring and it's still ongoing, per QNS. Watch a preview of the new series in the video below.

Meanwhile, the Kings are also in the middle of negotiations for "The Good Wife" spinoff with CBS. The plan is to bring this to fill-up the network's online digital content via CBS All-Access. Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo will headline the spinoff, as Parent Herald previously reported.
