Artificial intelligence, popularly known as AI is slowly taking over the industry. More and more companies and brands turn to AI to give their customers better service. According to new reports, eBay is also considering AI to improve product searches on their site.
eBay Will Use AI To Refine Product Searches
According to Forbes, eBay is very aggressive in fulfilling its goal of making its platform simple and more efficient. Their website is a popular buy and sell platform. Many visit the site to purchase or sell items.
One of the main features of the site is searching for a product. Per the report, eBay will be encouraging sellers to define their products using structured data. In this way, it will be easier to show relevant search results to buyers.
eBay Bought Malmo
Per InternetRetailer, eBay has already acquired an artificial intelligence and analytics company to help them accomplish this goal. EBay bought Malmo, a Sweden-based Expertmaker, which is focused on AI, machine learning and big data analysis. The Expertmaker employees will join eBay's structured data product and technology team.
"EBay's structured data effort is a multiyear journey, and we believe the innovation and significant expertise that Expertmaker brings to eBay will help us build a best-in-class product catalog and in turn better serve our customers," said Amit Menipaz, vice president and general manager of Structured Data at eBay.
With AI, eBay will be offering its customers better organized search results to help them find the item they are looking for conveniently. This progress will surely make customers happy as searching for products is one of the most used features on the website.
Toyota Also Uses AI
AI is a favorite technology in the business industry. Parent Herald previously reported that an AI framework also powers Toyota's websites. The AI was used to help customers customize the vehicles that they want to purchase. It will recommend features and will suggest the removal of combined features that are not feasible.
