'Castle' News & Update: ABC Reveals The Reason Behind The Cancellation; Learn Why

"Castle" is one of ABC's hit series. Unfortunately, ABC has already axed the show. According to reports, ABC has already spoken what leads them to their decision of cancelling "Castle" for good.

ABC Emotional After 'Castle's' Finale

Last week, ABC confirmed that the network already cancelled "Castle." They stressed that the "Castle" season 8 finale would be the series' finale. Fans, who were hoping for "Castle" season 9 were not happy with the announcement. Unfortunately, ABC has already decided. The network was also emotional with their decision.

"While we're still trying to process all the emotions stirred up by recent events, the feeling that stands head and shoulders above all else, is gratitude," ABC announced per Deadline. "Eight seasons. A hundred and seventy three episodes. None of it would have been possible without you - our loyal and passionate fans....So thank you."

Per the Hollywood Reporter, after firing of Stana Katic in "Castle" and the signing of new contracts for five other stars including lead Nathan Fillion, the cancellation of "Castle" is one of the most perplexed decision that the network had.

"At the end of the day, we didn't feel that even though Castle and Nashville were wonderful shows and good performers for a long time, the future for us didn't lie in those shows," ABC Entertainment Group president Channing Dungey said about the cancellation of "Castle".

Why Did ABC Cancelled 'Castle?'

Per CinemaBlend, "Castle" was cancelled for several reasons, among these are poor ratings, budget issues and the intense backlash the network received after firing Stana Katic and Tamala Jones. Aside from these, there are reports that the network has a new person in charge, Dungey, who is planning to change the lineup under her tenure.

Do you agree with ABC's decision of axing "Castle?" Will the show still work without Katic if it was renewed? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
