U.S. Presidential hopeful Donald Trump has recently earned another Hollywood hater and it's none other than Brad Pitt's wife and Special Envoy for the United Nations Refugee Agency Angelina Jolie. Based on the latest reports, Jolie has slammed Trump's previous comments about Muslims.
Angelina Jolie Vs. Donald Trump
Angelina Jolie recently urged world leaders to look into the global refugee crisis. During BBC's World on the Move day in London, the 40-year-old "By The Sea" star spoke about continuing her humanitarian efforts to help the burgeoning number of refugees.
At the event, Angelina Jolie was also asked about her opinion regarding Donald Trump's previous anti-Muslim denigration. In fact, Jolie shook her head in disapproval on Trump's Muslim comments, Time notes.
"To me, America is built on people from around the world coming together for freedoms, especially freedom of religion," Jolie said, CNN quotes. "So it's hard to hear this is coming from someone who is pressing to be an American president."
Angelina Jolie's Discontentment Over Global Leaders' Response To Refugee Crisis
Aside from criticizing Donald Trump's Muslim comments, Angelina Jolie has also candidly expressed her displeasure with how global leaders have addressed the international refugee crisis. The "Maleficent" actress said it has established a threat of a "race to the bottom" and added she's disappointed by her own country's response to the issue.
"It has created the risk of a race to the bottom, with countries competing to be the toughest in the hope of protecting themselves whatever the cost or challenge to their neighbors and despite their international responsibilities," Jolie stated, as per E! News. "I have been very, very disheartened by my own country's response to the situation."
Donald Trump's Anti-Muslim Rhetoric
Last December, Donald Trump raised eyebrows when he said that Muslims should not be allowed to enter the United States. According to Daily Mail, Trump's comments came a month after the Paris attacks, where 130 people were killed due to terror bombings in France.
Despite the widespread criticisms, the 69-year-old Republican hopeful told NBC on Friday that his proposed Muslim ban was merely a "suggestion." He also added that he's totally flexible on the issue but stressed he wasn't softening his position.
Donald Trump Vs. Other Hollywood Celebrities
Apart from Angelina Jolie, Donald Trump was also bashed by a list of Hollywood celebrities. George Clooney even called him a "xenophobic fascist" while Tom Hanks said Trump's presidency would be like the influx of "spacecraft filled with dinosaurs," The Daily Beast reveals.
Controversial singer Miley Cyrus, on the other hand, promised to leave the U.S. if Donald Trump wins the 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections. Jennifer Lawrence has also joined the Donald Trump haters' club when she admitted on "The Graham Norton Show" that she's desperate to meet Trump at an event to tell him, "Hey, Trump! Fuck you!"
