Education With Drones: Pricey Aerial System May Change Learning

Students at Unionville High School in Chester County are getting advanced learning with a drone system. Given exposure to high-technology experience, these students may mark the beginning of change in learning methods.

Drone Is Worth The Price

6ABC reports that the drone used by Union High School has a high price tag of $1000. However, teachers at this school believe that the students' hands-on experience with the drone is invaluable advanced learning at best.

Working with the drone enables the students to understand its future value in commerce and operations. Their intuitive projections of future drone use prove that the school's budget had not been wasted.

The Future Of Drone Use

Gavin Brezki, a student at Unionville High School, suggested that drone use will eventually include construction work. Goods delivery is also one popular use attached to drone integration.

Student Brigid Reilly, on the other hand, projects that drone size will evolve. Bigger drones are going to become inevitable.

Unionville High School seeks to bring drone learning into their formal curriculum. Drone as a part of education is deemed a strong support to STEM goals among other things.

Drone Use Permission By FAA

Luckily for Unionville High School, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) devised separate policy for drone operation in schools. Drone operation as part of school requirements is now allowed by the FAA.

In the past, drone operation required pilot license and government permission. While this still applies for the most part, BuzzFeed reports that students are given permission to use drone in school.

The FAA reportedly recognized the value of drone incorporation into a school's learning. As the future of innovations, the FAA acknowledged that students have much to gain from drone learning.

Teachers are protesting over the limitation the FAA place on drone operation on school grounds. Teachers feel that their hands are tied until an accident happens while their students experiment with drone use without much experience.
