If you have lost all your limbs, how would you live your life? Some would easily give up for sure but retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills, who lost all his limbs after an IED blast while on active duty during his third Afghanistan tour in 2012, never gave up and make his family as his inspiration to recovery.
In a Facebook video published by HuffPost Parents, which has more than 760,000 views and over 11,000 shares, Mills shared his experiences after being injured, which he said wasn't a "Hallmark meeting" people often see in movies. But despite his injuries and waking up in a hospital in Germany on his 25th birthday, the brave veteran dad admitted his wife's determination and his daughter, who was 6 months old at that time, motivated him and got him through the ordeal, as per The Huffington Post.
Meanwhile, Travis Mills can now drive, swim, crossfit even without his limbs. Through the help of prosthetics, Mills is more independent and start looking forward to the future, his father-in-law Craig Buck said on the video.
In addition, Mills has also developed a smart home to help veterans. The building, which will be a retreat center, will reportedly host 35-40 people per week to help wounded vets heal and live their "new normal" lives.
