Summer Activity For Families: SeriousFun Messtival Launches To Support SeriousFun Camps For Kids With Serious Illness

The SeriousFun Messtival kicks off at the Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday, June 24 at 9 a.m. The event is mounted by SeriousFun Children's Network, which has over 30 camps across the United States and was established by Paul Newman in 1988 in support for kids with serious illness.

This is the first time that the non-profit organization is holding a camp-inspired event, which rightfully takes place in the summer, when the kids might be looking to do more activities. "SeriousFun Messtival is our opportunity to share the magical spirit of SeriousFun camps with families and young people, and help children living with serious illness experience the fun they so deserve - even if the fun gets messy," said the CEO of SeriousFun Children's Network Mary Beth Powers.

Kids and their families can look forward to a host of activities for the event. Among these include:

1) SeriousFun Run - Runners, walkers and racers will have to sprint from Prospect Park to the designated Niagara Water finish line.
2) Make Your Own Snacks - Imbibing the spirit of Newman's Own Mess Hall, campers will be given an assortment of food to prepare their own camp snacks. The adults can even have their own barbecue and join the Newman's Own Barbecue Sauce Dunk Tank.
3) Dance Party - Those who love music and dancing will enjoy the fun at the main stage with guests from Kindermusik.
4) Various Camp Activities - Kids can play with an assortment of toys from Hasbro, such as PLAY-DOH and NERF. There will be various messy stations, where they can create art, dunk and soak each other or compete in a pie face tournament.

Interested families can register for the SeriousFun Messtival ahead via the
official site. Proceeds to the event will help fund the camps for kids with serious illness. Participants are encouraged to share their experience at the SeriousFun Messtival online with photos and videos and using the hashtag #SeriousFunMesstival or tagging SeriousFun Camps on social media.
