"Blindspot" ended the first season with a riveting conclusion: Jane Doe is not Taylor Shaw and Weller is back to square one with trying to figure out this mystery. A big bad was also hinted in the finale, but who is Shepherd and what is Jane's real identity? What will the show deliver next season?
"Blindspot" executive producer Martin Gero talked with Entertainment Weekly and said that these questions will immediately get some answers in "Blindspot" Season 2 Episode 1. Jane's real name will be revealed when the show returns to the new season. "You're going to find out a lot," said Gero. "It will be real this time."
'Blindspot' Season 2: Jane And Weller's Team
Weller's team will find out about Jane in the first episode of "Blindspot" Season 2 as well, which will leave them sad and disappointed. The team will work on figuring out the details of Taylor Shaw's death and Jane Doe's origin, but they will also have to deal with Mayfair's death and make a few changes.
Going by Patterson's request to her "family," there will not be a lot of secrets from each other this time around and the dynamics should be better for everyone. Jane, Weller, Zapata, Reed and even Mayfair had their own thing going on in the first season, so they kept secrets from each other. This will not be the case in "Blindspot" Season 2 anymore.
'Blindspot' Season 2: Who Is Shepherd?
The next season of "Blindspot" will also deal with Shepherd and Orion immediately. Gero told TV Guide that Shepherd, the anarchist group's leader, is not a character that the viewers have already seen. However, he is "vastly important" in "Blindspot" Season 2.
The next season will have Jane trying to convince Weller that Shepherd's group and the Orion must be stopped in their attempts to proceed with the second phase to bring America and the world down. However, this will not be so easy as Weller is still angry at Jane. She has to earn his trust back.
'Blindspot' Season 2 Summer Puzzles
In the meantime, fans of "Blindspot" will have a chance to learn more about the show this summer through a series of puzzles. "We're working with [New York Times crossword puzzle expert] David Kwong, NBC, and Warner Bros to really build out some amazing and fun puzzles with some great prizes all summer," Gero said in another Entertainment Weekly interview. These will not have any bearing on the story's outcomes, though, but it is a way for the show to engage its fans during the hiatus.
"Blindspot" will return to NBC with a new schedule for Season 2 every Wednesdays at 8 p.m. The network will be announcing the premiere date in the coming months.
