CBS has yet to announce the renewal of "Supergirl" for the second season, and while its fate remains up in the air, fans might have no reason to worry. The show still earns a respectable following among its young viewers and there's a strong chance that "Supergirl" would be moved to The CW.
"Supergirl" failed to top the ratings that CBS expected when it first ran during the 2015 fall season. However, this doesn't mean that the show isn't performing well. The freshman series actually got a ratings bump when it featured "The Flash" crossover and this has boosted its chance for a renewal strongly.
'Supergirl' Season 2 Moving To The CW
However, there's a likelihood "Supergirl" would be moving from CBS to The CW and discussions have already started, per Variety. It might make sense for the networks to do this because The CW has the right target audience of youngsters who enjoy watching superhero and fantasy series. The CW is also home to "The Flash." However, a network insider denied that there are ongoing talks, Variety also reports.
'Supergirl' Season 2 Storyline To Finally Feature Superman
If and when "Supergirl" receives a renewal, its producers promised more revelation about the mysterious pod that was unveiled at the end of Season 1. The people behind the show have set ideas on who or what is really in the pod, but they would like the show's fans to keep guessing. The producers also plan on exploring more of Jeremiah Danvers and confirmed that this will be a big part of "Supergirl" Season 2, per Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, there's also a possibility of Superman or Clark Kent actually coming to the show if it gets renewed. "It will always be a dream of ours to be able to have Clark or Superman on the show," said the show's executive producer Andrew Kreisberg via another Entertainment Weekly report. "Hopefully with continued success, that opportunity will one day present itself."
So far, the producers have featured a very young Superman or Kal-El in the earlier episodes in an alternate world. They have also resorted to Kara and Clark communicating via instant messaging or phone calls and haven't actually shown Superman's face.
