Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are currently in the middle of a controversy after their endorsed ministry, Michael and Debi Pearl's "No Greater Joy," points out in a recently republished article that they may have gone wrong in raising their family, noting the series of issues and scandals the Christian family faced in recent years.
In the article, Pearl did not only hinted the parenting blunders of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar. As a matter of fact, he also offered shocking parenting advice to avoid the series of problems the Duggars were reportedly facing.
Michael And Debi Pearl's 'No Greater Joy' Ministry
Just like the Duggars, Michael and Debi Pearl's parenting techniques have also gained criticisms and raised eyebrows. The reason? The Pearl-endorsed parenting practices have been linked to several abuse and death cases.
In 2011, Christianity Today published an article titled, "When Child Discipline Becomes Abuse," which detailed three cases where the parents' "disciplinary" techniques have gone wrong, resulting in their children's death. In all three cases, the parents cited Pearl's book, "No Greater Joy," as the source of their brutal disciplinary actions.
Aside from the parents, Michelle Duggar has also reportedly endorsed Pearl's parenting techniques. In fact, the Duggars and the Pearls had collaborated for a book promotion, months before the article was published.
Josh Duggar's Molestation Scandal
Following the exposé on Josh Duggar's molestation scandal, Michael Pearl also releases an article on No Greater Joy Ministries website addressing and discussing the Duggars' parenting mistakes in allowing their children to follow such (Josh) paths.
As for Josh Duggar's molestation, Pearl's ministry said several factors were to blame. First on the list was porn followed by the children and by parents who trust.
"Satan has released his weapon of mass destruction. It is not measured in megatons, but in megabits," Pearl said, as per Inquisitr.
The Duggar Household
Michelle and Bob Duggar reportedly followed Pearl's advice after the first incident of molestation was reported to them. According to People, Michelle and Jim Bob implemented a list of "safeguards" in their household where the kids weren't allowed to play hide-and-seek, sit on their older brothers' laps or be in pairs apart from the crowd.
In addition, the Duggars also set up two dorm-like bedrooms to separate the boys from the girls. Michelle and Jim Bob also implemented the rules that Pearl has laid out including homeschooling, no media access without supervision, no unapproved friends and no privacy are permitted in the Duggar household.
The Duggars Vs. Pearl's Ministry
The republishing of Pearl's article about the Duggars has both triggered confusion and interest from the public, hinting the possibility of Pearls' desire to distance from the Duggar. However, the move is quite "ironic" since the parenting advice Pearl's ministry recommended was followed by the Duggars.
Meanwhile, the Duggar-endorsed ministry is no stranger to writing about the controversial family. In fact, Pearl once admitted in an article that he was proud to be associated with the Duggar family but later changed the statement by calling Josh a "pornographer and adulterer who's living a hypocritical life."
