"Outlander" Season 2 spoilers hint that there will be more changes in the last five episodes of the show. As most fans and viewers know, the second season of the Starz series is based on Diana Gabaldon's second book entitled "Dragonfly in Amber."
However, in "Outlander" Season 2 episode 8 titled "The Fox's Lair," fans were surprised to see Laoghaire's (Nell Hudson) return. Fans who have read the book are well aware that Laoghaire's character is not supposed to show up until Gabaldon's third book, "Voyager."
In a post, Gabaldon admitted that she disagreed with the said changes in "Outlander" Season 2, reports Zap2It. However, the author explained the show's reason for doing so and defended the episode writer from fans and critics.
"I didn't like the inclusion of the Laoghaire plot at all (and told them so), but it worked much more smoothly and believably with Mrs. Fitz," she said.
Gabaldon hinted that fans should brace themselves for more changes in the last five episodes of "Outlander" Season 2. In a recent interview with showrunner Ron Moore, he explained that Laoghaire's appearance in Season 2 was needed to pave the way for her character in Season 3, reports Scotland Now.
"Outlander" has already been renewed for Seasons 3 and 4 on TV, so this may explain the reason behind Laoghaire's return in Season 2. Moore noted that Laoghaire did not testify against Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in the books, but what they did was necessary for her character redemption in Season 3.
