For years, Samsung has been getting a lot of flak for supposedly copying Apple's features in developing their smartphones. But it looks like Apple will be the copycat this time around when the company releases its iPhone 8. The iPhone 8 will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of its first release in 2017.
Reports say that Apple will be coming out with a smartphone that looks like the Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge. Cult of Mac states that the iPhone 8 will have an OLED display and curvy edges, much like the Samsung unit that has been in the market for some months now. The "all-glass design" was predicted by analysts and sources say that Apple has already tapped into its suppliers in preparation for the production of the iPhone 8.
Analyst Kevin Wong of IHS China on the Chinese social site, Weibo, said that the iPhone 8 will have glass wrapping from the left all the way to the right, and it will be without any bezels on the sides. The curved smartphone is said to be in demand with Samsung Galaxy and has helped with sales, which is probably why Apple is going to push the same features for its iPhone 8 in 2017.
But as it is, the curve display on the Galaxy doesn't really offer much except for smoothness and aesthetic appeal. However, Mac Rumors reports that Apple might soon make the 32 GB storage space as its base storage for incoming iPhones. In doing so, there's a growing speculation that company is planning to include more necessary and useful features to its bezel-less design.
It should be noted that Apple has applied for a patent of its all-glass curvy feature when it filed for the Touch ID, per Patently Apple. If the company begins making use of this for its smartphones, then it will set the iPhone 8 apart from being just a copy of the Samsung Galaxy Edge 7's design. The added functionality has been a much-awaited feature among consumers.
