The final season of "Person of Interest" is almost done and while CBS has been burning through the episodes twice a week, the last three episodes will air in its regular Tuesday schedule. Evidently, the show will end with Finch potentially pulling the plug on Samaritan, but what will this mean for him and his creation, the Machine?
On Tuesday, June 7, at 10 p.m. "Person of Interest" will deal with a threat against the most important person they have handled: the president of the United States. Marred by a conspiracy, the team of Reese, Fusco and Shaw will have to be cautious than the Secret Service in order to protect the most powerful man in the world.
However, Finch is nowhere to be found as the team works on the president's safety. Following last week's event on "Person of Interest" with Elias and Root's death, Finch has decided to do something drastic for a change. He will begin rolling out how he will destroy Samaritan in the episode "Synecdoche," per TV Grapevine.
Before his death, Finch's friend, Elias, told him that people should be wary of a quiet man because it's not going to be good when Finch gets angry. "What happens when someone that smart and capable decides enough is enough?" asked "Person of Interest" executive producer Jonathan Nolan via TV Insider. Fans should expect a cunning and decisive Finch making his moves against Samaritan. This time, he has abandoned all his morals, ironically, in an attempt to make things right.
On June 14, in the episode ".exe" on "Person of Interest," Finch will finally infiltrate a maximum-security facility where he believes Samaritan exists. He will unleash the Machine against the Samaritan, which could mean a digital catastrophe and his creation might not survive. However, it could also mean destroying Samaritan for good.
But it won't be that easy for Finch and the Machine as the final battle will happen the following week, on June 21. "Return to 0" will mark the finale of "Person Of Interest" as everyone regroups. Their last mission is going to determine the fate of mankind, but at what cost? Will Finch successfully pull the plug against Samaritan? Will Machine make it?
