A mom from Blackpool, Lancashire is sending out a warning to parents who let their kids wear Next jelly sandals, following an incident with her 2-year-old daughter. The toddler was apparently only wearing the sandals for 30 minutes, but her tiny feet bled all over.
Lisa Connor claims that her baby girl, Esme, was only "plodding" in their house when she ran to her mother crying about her feet. The Next jelly sandals caused some deep cuts to her skin and Lisa Connor was horrified to find her little girl bleeding, per Mirror.
Lisa Connor posted photos of Esme's feet on her social media account and said that her daughter was in pain. "There was blood all round her ankle and on the soles of her foot," she said. It took an hour for her and her husband to calm the baby down.
The Next jelly sandals had been a birthday gift. The mom remembered that when she had Esme try it on the first time, she didn't like it, so Lisa took it off. The toddler's father, unaware of what Esme said, made the girl wear the Next jelly shoes around the house the day her foot bled. They have already reached out to Next about what happened.
According to Metro, Next asked the family to send Esme's shoes for a "detailed inspection." The company also said that this is the first time they have had a complaint about the jelly sandals, but Lisa Connor said some parents have told her they have encountered similar problems with the shoes. Netizens pointed out that perhaps the sandals were too small for Esme's feet, but there are others questioning why Next describes the jelly shoes as "for short term wear only."
Moms, what can you say about this incident? Should there be jelly shoes for toddlers in the first place? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
